How do I know which way to go?

Every thing you ever desire to know is available to you. It might seem like woo woo when I say it, except that you totes know more than you think you do.

Have you ever had that feeling when you meet a person that something’s not right? Somewhere, from in your gut your body sends you a message “watch out, this person is not awesome.”

What about when you enter a room and there’s a heaviness inside that suggests something not nice just happened? You find out later that the other people in the room had just had an argument or someone had said something rude to another person…

That heavy feeling is your inner radar that knows more than you think you do. When you work with it (by following the feeling) instead of against it (by ignoring your gut and telling yourself you are wrong) you have access to awareness that can guide you to make the decisions that are right for you.

See, not so woo woo after all.

Some people call this awareness “intuition.” Intuition, or Inner-tuition is your internal bull shit navigator. It doesn’t take any special tools, or crazy meditation retreats where you have to sit on a hill in silence for a week and eat nothing but lentils… Your Inner-tuition is with you all the time, and is accessible in any moment.

Simply ask, Does this feel heavy or light for me?

Heavy is the feeling that you get when you walk into that room where the people were arguing, or you meet that creepy dude. Light is the feeling you have hanging out on the grass in the sunshine with your bestie while the children play happily together in the sand pit. Or something else nice that makes you feel great and makes life easy.

Heavy or Light is a tool you can use over and over again, whenever you want, and as many times as you want.

Should I buy this apple? Does it feel heavy or light? Not the apple itself; the feeling of buying the apple!

Should I go to Hawaii or Finland for my next holiday? Which feels lighter? Choose that.

What will happen if I sign-up for this course? Does it feel heavy or light? If you’re not really sure about the feeling, or it flickers on and off, you could also ask, “What if I come back to this question later, in a week, a month, a year?” Whatever feels lighter, go with that.

Another tool I find useful is to ask, “If I choose this, what will the world be like in five years?” And then, “If I don’t choose this, what will the world be like in five years?” Every action has a reaction, and you can never be sure how the reactions in your sphere will affect the world around. Life shows up in its own way. By asking about the feeling for the future, you are checking in with how your choice will relate to your Vision for the world.

Sometimes I’ll even ask, “What will the world will be like in fifty years… or five hundred?” This tool takes the choice out of relationship with just me, and puts my decision in the frame of the entire Universe. Every choice you make has a lasting impact on the Rhythm of Life. Choices matter.

Another version of this tool is to check in with your Vision. “Does this choice match my Vision?” If it feels light, that’s the green light. If it has that heavy, dark poopy feel to it, it’s probably best to leave it for now.

There’s one other part of checking in with your choice when deciding what you know : Accept it. The feeling is not right or wrong. The moment is just what it is for now. Be you now. Follow the energy of your own awareness. Trust your Inner-tuition and do things because they feel fun, light and joyful.

Pleasure is totally enough of a reason to choose something. Or not choose. You’re perfect already.
