Best way to make first contact is via email. My admin Erin will reply with whatever you need.

A 15min free consultation is required for all new attendees to groups and retreats. Erin will book you in for this video session so you and I can meet and ensure we’re the right fit for each other.

I offer individual sessions, equine assisted therapy, Retreats and Circles, and various online courses.

FAQs

What are your fees?

People working with me start out with a free 15min session to ensure we’re a right match. Thereafter, 1:1 hourly sessions are charged at $180 (online or face to face).

Retreats and Online Circles are charged at various rates, and I offer Scholarships and Volunteer positions for women who are not able to meet the financial ask at the time. Check the Pricing Page for info. You can find my Terms for Groups here.

What are your qualifications?

I hold a GradDip Couns. ~ aka Graduate Diploma in Counselling, from the University of Canberra, graduating in 2018. I have Clinical Registration with PACFA and my Registration number is 25488. I’m a professional member of the Australian Association for Bush Adventure Therapy, International Association for Pscyhoanalytic Self Pscyhology, and Animal Therapies Ltd.

In 2022 I graduated with a Certificate in Psychedelic Assisted Therapies under the tutelage of Nigel Denning and Traill Dowie. I attend events with the Australian Psychedelic Society and will be a member of the currently forming Australian Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Practitioners (AMAPP) when the process is complete.

I'm also Certified Movnat Trainer, a black belt in 2 styles of Martial Arts, a member of the National Women's Martial Arts Federation and the Martial Arts Association of Australia.

I've worked in therapeutic roles with women for over 20 years.

i saw you’re trained in psychedelic therapy - does that mean you lead people in mushroom/ mdma/ayahuasca trips?

In February 2023 the TGA announced MDMA and Psilocybin (Magic Mushrooms) have been approved for rescheduling to be used in some circumstances for healing conditions such as PTSD, C-PTSD and Depression. These medicines will only be prescribed by an appropriately qualified Psychiatrist, and we’re really not sure yet what this will look like for clinical use. YET.

I’m staying connected and informed with all relevant industry bodies to watch what unfolds with these medicines in the Psychedelic Assisted Therapies space.

Meanwhile, it is still illegal to take MDMA and Psilocybin, but we’re all aware that people in the Underground do supply and support. Although you cannot trip with me (YET), I can serve you in integrating a psychedelic experience you’ve had previously. The amazing thing is we can work on integrating and affirming wholeness years after an experience.

If you’d like to work with me for Pscyhedelic Integration, you can talk to me in a free 15min video call. Email admin@selfcraft.me to book it in.

What about Cannabis?

Many women who work with Hollie use medical cannabis products on prescription to manage anxiety, chronic pain and other symptoms. Hollie is currently studying ways to work with clients who have been prescribed cannabis, in a therapeutic context. If this is something that interests you, let me know before your session and we can discuss the possibilities.

Where is the clinic?

Face-to-face sessions are held in a private and confidential counselling room (or outdoors in the case of Ecotherapy) near Braidwood.

I also see people online, with clients all over Australia.

Sessions are available online or face to face.

Do you see children?

Selectively. Please make contact to discuss your / your child's needs.

Can I use you for my GP Mental Health Plan?

Counsellors are not currently able to service GP Mental health Plans. If you are a student, pensioner or in a position where you cannot afford the cost of the Session Program, I may be able to provide a discount. Mention it in your Try Me Session.

Are you a Private Health Provider?

If you have Silver cover or above, you will be able to claim Medibank, and may have to lodge in person. ahm and Bupa also provide Counselling rebates. Please let me know when I'm preparing your invoice.

How do I know if we will be good fit?

I offer a Try Me session; for a free 15 minute chat over the phone or Zoom and find out whether I can get you the results you're looking for. This is the case for Sessions and Retreats. Once we’re finished that session, you can decide if you’d like to work with me. There's no hidden costs or surprise deals at the last minute.

What does working with Hollie look like?

To help clients understand what an holistic framework might look like, these case studies, originally put together for my locally branded practice Braidwood Holistic Therapies, are based on real life client sessions.

44 year old depressed man

9 year old girl with learning difficulties

working mum who wants to find more balance

15 year old youth self harming

All names and identifying information have been removed to protect clients.

What issues will You work with?

In a society with an already overburdened medical system, I work with the whole person, not merely the symptoms to maintain health rather than just treat diseases. I have a special interest in neurodiversity, anxiety, trauma and women who have experienced violence.

I work 100% holistically, and do not follow a medical model. Holistic means focusing on the whole Self (physical, mental, emotional, environmental, spiritual) rather than focusing on symptoms. Counsellors do not diagnose. Complaint and disease-centered medicine has value, and the research does lead to benefit for people who have developed acute illness. In chronic conditions (Acute illnesses generally develop suddenly and last a short time, often only a few days or weeks. Chronic conditions develop slowly and may worsen over an extended period of time—months to years) focus on disease can distract from the whole person / whole health and wellness enhancement approach.

Wellness is aimed at maintaining health over the long term; for improvement of the life of the person, not to cure any condition or disease. Working holistically means I don't “treat” any diagnosed or named disease. I use Self Crafted Wellness protocols to work with the whole person (including the mind, physical body, the emotions and individual habits).

"Health is not merely a passive state of freedom from disease, but an active condition of being, of growth, of development, of evolution." ~ John Thie

I’m very interested in the concept of integration and wholeness when it comes to health, whether that be physical, emotional or mental health. Trauma-informed practice is my ultimate concern when working with people, and I take a bio-psycho-social-relational-spatial-environmental historical lens in my work.

Do you do NDIS?

It is not viable for me to go through the process of registration with the NDIS scheme. If you have self-managed NDIS, let's talk about what I can offer. Book a Free 15minute Phone Consultation to discuss. HERE>>>

Questions About Group Work

Can anyone come to Retreats and Circles?

Retreats and Circles are for people who identify as women (including teens). The Circles are not for young girls. Babes in arms are always welcome. Potential participants may be required to attend a 15min video interview with Hollie before the Circle to check we are a right fit.

I get overwhelmed in big groups. How many people are likely to be there?

There are 13 places available for each session. With Hollie and her apprentice Millie, that makes a maximum of 15 women at any Circle. Smallish groups are important for this model of trauma-informed group work. If we end up with a high number of women interested, we will put on a second group, rather than increase the size.

I haven’t had many good experiences with other women. How will I know if a Women’s Circle is the right thing for me?

Circles are an opportunity for growth. The trauma-informed space will be very different to any other experiences you’ve had in self-help groups and with other women. Hollie sets and holds clear group boundaries to ensure everyone can be safe and secure in the shared space. Collaboration and Coregulation are important pillars of this work, along with Choice, Learning and Integration. If you have concerns about being with a group of women, you have an opportunity to talk to Hollie about it in your initial interview.

The cost is prohibitive to me. Is there another way to come without paying money?

Hollie offers Scholarships and Volunteer places. If these options would benefit you, please mention your situation in your initial interview.

I know Hollie works with Animal Assistants when she does therapy. Will there be animals involved in these Circles?

Sygfa the therapy-hound-in-training is always around at Retreats. She is a puppy and is still learning about being in therapeutic space. If dogs are a concern for you (either for fear, grief or allergy) please talk to Hollie in your initial interview. There are a myriad of options to modulate the puppy experience so that you can feel safe and secure in our space.

Our horses are always nearby, and on the property we also live with goats, chooks, guinea fowl and cats.

I know Hollie is a cannabis-friendly therapist. Does this mean I can smoke weed in the Circle?

Many women who work with Hollie use medical cannabis products on prescription to manage anxiety, chronic pain and other symptoms. If your Circle experience requires you to engage with your prescription cannabis, please keep to common smoking expectations and burn (smoke or vape) flower outdoors and away from the main group.
